Lieutenant Colonel Paik graduated in 1993 from the United States Air Force Academy, CO with a Bachelor of Sciences degree in Economics. Upon commissioning, he was awarded a graduate scholarship to the Pennsylvania State University where he earned a Master of Sciences degree in Economics. In 1994, Lt Col Paik was assigned to the Aeronautical Systems Center at Wright-Patterson AFB, OH where he performed research in the areas of modeling and simulation and virtual reality.
In 1996, he was re-assigned to Beale AFB, CA, "Home of the U-2," where he served as Chief, Financial Services and later as Chief, Budget Office for the 9th Reconnaissance Wing. Lt Col Paik next took a remote tour in 1999 to Osan AB, Republic of Korea. There he served as Budget Chief for the 51st Fighter Wing and Headquarters 7th Air Force.
In 2000, Lt Col Paik returned to the United States Air Force Academy where he was an Assistant Professor of Economics and the department's Executive Officer. He taught courses in Micro and Macroeconomics, Law & Economics, and developed a new course in the Economics of Sports.
In 2003, Lt Col Paik headed to the Air Staff, Washington, DC. While at the Pentagon, he led database integration for the Air Force budget and POM and later served as Team Chief for Air Force O&M Budget Formulation.
In 2006, he attended the Air Command and Staff College in-residence and graduated in 2007. He is currently the Commander of the 437th Comptroller Squadron at Charleston AFB, SC.
Lt Col Paik and his wife, Grace, call Chicago home. They have been married 10 years and have three children, Samuel age 9, Ellie age 7, and Micah age 5.

Cindy has been employed by the Space and Naval Warfare (SPAWAR) Systems Center-Atlantic since November 1994 and is the current Manpower Management Lead for SPAWAR Atlantic. Cindy started her career at the Charleston Naval Shipyard and eventually moved to the Supervisor of Shipbuilding (SUPSHIP) where she progressed through the ranks of Accounting Technician and Budget Analyst to become the Budget Officer/Deputy Comptroller. Cindy graduated from Limestone College in December 2005, earning her Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration/Management.
Cindy was the President of our CharlesTowne Chapter in 1998-1999 and concluded her term with over 350 members. She has been an active member of the CharlesTowne Chapter since 1986 and currently serves as our Executive Advisor. She has been the Chairperson for numerous committees and has been an active Executive Board member since 1993. She was selected as the CharlesTowne Chapter’s Outstanding Deputy Comptroller in 1993 and has also been the Membership Recruiter of the Year for several different terms. Cindy was instrumental in keeping our club together during the BRAC closures in the Charleston area and has continued to strive to maintain CharlesTowne as a 5-star chapter.

Senior Master Sergeant Michelle K. Lackey is the 437th Comptroller Squadron Superintendent, Charleston AFB, South Carolina. She is the squadron’s principle advisor to the commander on all enlisted matters. She enlisted in the Air Force in October 1988 as a Law Enforcement Specialist and in August 1991, retrained direct-duty into Financial Services.
During her career, Sergeant Lackey has deployed in support of Operations JOINT ENDEAVOR, ENDURING FREEDON, IRAQI FREEDOM and Combined Joint Task Force Horn of Africa.
Sergeant Lackey has been a member of ASMC since 1996 and a member of the Charlestowne chapter since October 2006.
